BBQ FLAVOUR MAKES THE DIFFERENCE
BBQ Flavour was born out of a deep-rooted passion for barbecuing and good food. As real lovers of everything that has to do with BBQ and fire, we noticed that the supply in types of charcoal is very limited. Supermarkets, for example, only sell charcoal which is a mixture of different types of wood with a lot of grit. This grit can fall through the charcoal grid of your barbecue, making it impossible to create a nice fire. Also online it is difficult to find a complete assortment of qualitative charcoal. Moreover, the necessary information about the different types of charcoal is often missing. We would like to change this and that's why BBQ Flavour was founded in 2018. BBQ Flavour has a complete and high quality range of charcoal, briquettes, smoking wood, chunks, and various accessories. BBQ Flavour was founded to really make a difference!
Charcoal
Charcoal is easier to regulate, can get hotter than briquettes and gives less residue. Each charcoal type has its own unique properties and is therefore suitable for a particular type of preparation and barbecue. Charcoal can be compared on the basis of taste, quality, consistency and burning power.
Acacia
Acacia is a hard charcoal, but a lot softer than the Marabu, Hexagon and Binchotan. Softer types of charcoal like Acacia are easier and quicker to light and bring your BBQ up to temperature. Acacia is therefore ideal for Fast & High grilling and gives a slightly smoky flavour. Acacia has a charcoal percentage of 75%, reaches temperatures of 700 to 800°C and has an average burn time of 3.5 hours. It is a real friend of everyone because it is suitable for both open and closed barbecues.

Marabu
Marabu is a Cuban charcoal that is made from the fast-growing Marabu bush. It has a sustainable and environmentally friendly character because no special trees need to be felled. Marabu is a harder species than Acacia, which means it has a higher carbon percentage, namely 90%, and a longer burn time of on average 4.5 hours. In addition, there is virtually no smoke because of the complete carbonisation, which gives it a neutral taste. Because of its properties, Marabu is ideal for Low & Slow grilling and is suitable for open and closed barbecues.

Binchotan
We went in search of the black gold or charcoal in its purest form. This search through the jungles of Japan led us, among other things, to Binchotan charcoal. It is the highest-grade charcoal in the world, originally produced from the Ubame oak in the Wakayama perfector. The production process of Binchotan is very complex, has a low yield and can take up to 14 days. As a result, Binchotan is hardly ever produced in Japan itself and is therefore not available for export. This makes Binchotan very scarce and very expensive. BBQ Flavour White Binchotan is a perfect alternative from Vietnam that is made in the same traditional Japanese way and contains the same unique properties. White Binchotan contains a charcoal percentage of no less than 96-98%. This means that it does not crackle, produces a very nice, calm fire and has a very low but compact ash formation. Binchotan is completely odourless, burns at a constant temperature and can reach extremely high temperatures of between 870 and 1200°C. Binchotan charcoal is extremely suitable for the table grill, Shichirin, Hibachi and Konro.

Briquettes
The choice for charcoal or briquettes depends on your barbecue and your grilling preferences. The advantage of briquettes is that they become evenly hot and remain at a constant temperature for a long time. However, they need longer to reach the right grilling temperature and cannot reach as high temperatures. Briquettes are only suitable for a closed ball barbecue. They are not suitable for the Kamado because they leave more ash and the temperature is difficult to control. Our range consists of various types of ecological briquettes: Hexagon Sawdust, Quick-Koko and coconut briquettes in cylinder and pillow form. Our coconut briquettes are produced from pressed coconut husks and the Hexagon Sawdust is made from pressed hardwood sawdust. All our briquettes are free of chemicals so that all dishes taste delicious and pure.

Smoke wood and chunks
Smoking wood is there to give your ingredients on the barbecue extra smell, taste and colour. Chunks are suitable for longer smoking sessions and smoke wood for shorter smoking sessions. We have various types in our assortment. This allows for an enormous amount of combinations, because each type goes with a certain type of fish, meat, poultry, cheese or vegetables. You can use smoking wood either dry or wet. By soaking dry wood in for example water, beer or wine, the smoke flavour will be even more intense.
